Taking photographs in the dark is always a challenge. Taking photographs in the dark, without a tripod, using a hand-held camera, high ISO and moving subjects is positively insane, even with one of the latest and best ‘low-noise’ digital cameras available. But that’s me. And the results are surprising.

On the nights of Friday and Saturday, 3 & 4 October 2014, the ‘Woodlands Trust Scotland‘ hosted an event in the woodlands near Bellsquarry, Brucefield and Adam Brae in Livingston, West Lothian, known as the Wilderness Plantation.

Called ‘Embrace’, it was a production by Vision Mechanics, described as a ‘fusion of aerial artistry, dance, shadows and illumination, inspired by an ancient Indian legend’.

Linlithgow Canal Fun Day 2012 was held on 19 August.

It featured a variety of activities with stalls, ‘Punch & Judy’ shows, canal boat trips, folk music, exhibits and a demonstration by the ‘International Rescue Corp’. They came in very useful for the most popular event, the ‘Cardboard Boat Race’. Read more

The annual Edinburgh Festival and Fringe draws crowds and it is a great experience just to walk the streets, especially on the Royal Mile, to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the entertainers. Read more

The Second Linlithgow Classic Car Day

Following the first stage of the Second Linlithgow Classic Car Day (2011) to South Queensferry, the classic cars returned to Linlithgow for a meet-up in the town’s market square and at the Linlithgow Palace car park.
