Linlithgow Canal Fun Day 2012 was held on 19 August.

It featured a variety of activities with stalls, ‘Punch & Judy’ shows, canal boat trips, folk music, exhibits and a demonstration by the ‘International Rescue Corp’. They came in very useful for the most popular event, the ‘Cardboard Boat Race’. Read more

South Queensferry 13th July 2004

There has been significant interest in my photographs of the recent visit of the MS Queen Elizabeth to the Forth Estuary near South Queensferry, so I dug deep into my archives and found these images of the visit of the Cunard RMS Queen Mary 2 to almost the same spot on the 13th July 2004. At 151,400 GRT, QM2 is the largest ocean liner ever. The other Cunard Queens, the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria are around 90,000 GRT. (Apparently MS is an abbreviation for Motor Ship while RMS is an abbreviation for Royal Mail Ship.) Read more

Queen Elizabeth at South Queensferry

On the 4th September 2011, I had a feeling of déjà vu as I had stood on the same spot many years ago and taken photographs of the RMS Queen Mary 2. The sight was very similar, including the tones and colours of the sky and clouds. Read more

The Tall Ships Race Parade of Sail

Following the RAF Red Arrows display, the 57 participating Tall Ships set out from Greenock, one by one, surrounded by a flotilla of local vessels down the Firth of Clyde towards their destination on the next stage.

They were not racing at this point and different Tall Ships were to call in at Campbeltown, Oban and Ullapool en route to Lerwick. Read more

Greenock in Inverclyde was the host of The Tall Ships Race event over the weekend, 9-12 July 2011. Fortunately there was pleasant summer sunshine for most of the time I was there. Read more

Union 10 Canal Anniversary Celebration

On the weekend of 24-26 September 2010, approximately 60 vessels made the journey from Edinburgh Quay to Falkirk Wheel, to celebrate 10 years since the Union Canal re-opened. Read more

Pittenweem is a coastal village in the East Neuk of Fife.

Characteristic of the area it has an atmosphere and “the light” that appeals to artists. Many have chosen to live there often reflecting the charm in their paintings. Read more
